UCSF/SFGH Surgical Training Facility
The Surgical Training Facility (STF) at San Francisco General Hospital is dedicated to the development and presentation of innovative medical, health, and science workshops. The facility is among a select few academic centers in the United States designed exclusively for orthopaedic specialists to practice and perform today’s newest and most advanced surgical procedures. The lab works with leading researchers, engineers and physicians as well as medical device and prosthesis manufacturers to provide an environment in which students, residents, fellows and surgeons can receive hands-on training with the latest procedures and technologies in the field of orthopaedics.
The STF faculty strive to promote lifelong learning by utilizing the latest technology to connect residents, health care professionals, surgeons and industry professionals to world class experts and faculty. With six stations and the most comprehensive advanced imaging of any academic surgical training facility in the United States, including 3D C-ARM (an image intensifier device used in x-rays) and CT scanner, the STF offers top-of-the-line technology.
The fully integrated audio/visual equipment boasts fully integrated audio/visual technology, including plasma screens with picture in picture capability, wireless microphones, an annotator function, an x-ray board, a document camera and a projector.
The facility is available for training, meetings and educational courses and is suitable for a variety of audiences. Courses can be linked to external locations, offering convenient and highly accessible learning opportunities.
